So Young: bids to land his third successive victory over hurdles on Sunday

SO YOUNG, as short as 20-1 forthe Stan James Champion Hurdle at Cheltenham, will bid for a hat-trick of wins for the season when he faces just three rivals at Navan on Sunday.
Fourth behind First Lieutenant in last year’s Neptune Investment Management Novices’ Hurdle, the mount of Ruby Walsh will bid to consolidate easy wins at Punchestown and Thurles before stepping back into graded company.
Mullins said: “He is well treated at the weights and it looks a nice opportunity for himas he bids tofollow up his win last time.”
Among his rivals in the Follow Navan On Facebook Hurdle are Perfect Smile, who failed to jump with any fluency in the Racing Post Novice Chase at Leopardstown on December 26 and Trifolium, who won impressively on the same afternoon at Limerick but has 9lb to find with So Young on official ratings.
The most valuable race on the card is the Foxrock Handicap Chase, worth 27,500 in prize-money,and 2010 Troytown Chase winner Jack The Bus is back at the scene of his biggest success.
The in-form Andrew Lynch is an interesting jockey booking and trainer Peter Casey said: “He ran very well to be seventh in the Troytown here on his first run back for a year.
“It’s a good job we didnt run him in the Paddy Power Chase, as we had planned, because we wouldn’t have had a horse for this and I think if he runs as well as he did in the Troytown hell win here.”
