Sadler’s Risk was impressive enough on his jumping debut at Kempton to be cut to favourite for the Triumph Hurdle.
Rated 100 on the Flat for Mark Johnston and switched to Philip Hobbs for the winter game, he went off the even-money favourite and victory never looked in doubt as he coasted 17 lengths clear under Richard Johnson in the William Hill – Home Of Betting Juvenile Hurdle.
“He does everything right at home. He got a bit close to one or two early on, but he was a bit fresh I suppose,” said Hobbs.
“We’ll work backwards from the Triumph now. Richard thought he could do with another run or two and he could go to Cheltenham in a fortnight as he’s very tough.”
Paddy Power installed Sadler’s Risk as 6-1 clear favourite, with William Hill a more conservative 8s.
