Oiseau De Nuit is likely to take up his option in the Victor Chandler Chase at Ascot on January 21.
Colin Tizzard‘s chaser won the Grand Annual at the Cheltenham Festival last March and ran a cracker last time out against Finian’s Rainbow and Wishfull Thinking, but his rating of 152 makes life in handicaps difficult and his owner Terry Warner is resigned to running him in top-class races.
Warner said: “He’s a lovely horse to own, he’s never any trouble. He ran a smashing race last time and if he’d pinged the last, I think he’d have won.”
He added: “The trouble with him now is that he’s so highly rated he’s got to run in those types of races. I expect we’ll run him in the Victor Chandler next as if there’s only five or six runners, he’ll have a chance of getting some decent money.
“He’ll probably be too high in the handicap to go back for the Grand Annual as they only go down a pound if they get beat these days.”
